If you love coffee & want to learn the best way to brew the perfect cup for yourself, this introductory lesson with a trained barista is the perfect starting point. You will be taught the art form of producing different types of coffee, the exact techniques used & how to better appreciate this popular drink. You will have the choice of four different fun & informative classes that take place in a dedicated training room. Each session is an enjoyable way to for you to gain more knowledge & to try something new. You will also receive 150g of coffee beans / ground coffee. You will be able to choose one class from the following: Coffee Appreciation & Cupping: This is an introduction to the diversity of coffee. You will learn the basic skills of tasting, or as the baristas call it, coffee cupping, by comparing single origin coffee. This will allow you to recognise & appreciate the diverse flavour characteristics through a number of roasting profiles & regions of production. The session concludes with information on how different brewing methods can draw out the flavours of a coffee's unique characteristics. Filter Coffee & Brewing Methods: This session is designed to give you the best practice of the three brewing methods; pour-over, syphon & aeropress. You will compare a number of different coffees using each method & demonstrating the manner in which each draws different flavours from the same coffee. Espresso: This entry level session will provide you with the skills needed to confidently make the best espresso possible. You will learn the values of cleanliness, good preparation & utilising the best skills possible to optimise the process, as well as the basic setup of the machine & grinder to get the best from the bean. Latte Art: This session will give you the skill & consistency to master the steam wand of a commercial La Marzocco Machine, by training on milk based espresso drinks. You will be shown techniques on how to create a range of micro-foam in milk & how this process affects the flavour, as well as the best practice for pouring latte art, milk temperature & its effect on the coffee. You'll also learn how the ratio of espresso to milk characteristics defies the coffee we drink.
