The British have never been terribly good at the more touchy-feely aspects of self-help & inspiration
- the kind peddled in the USA for decades now. The British
- when stuck in spots of bother like the War
- have tended to resort to more formal & restrained modes of address
- 'pull yourself together', 'stiff upper lip' & all that.
