Quince is an ancient fruit used widely by the Greeks & romans. You cannot eat it straight from the tree but use it in cooking instead, said to enhance the flavour of anything you put it with. Meech's Prolific has fruiting as well as ornamental qualities, it produces light pink flowers in April or May followed by large pear shaped yellow fruit when ripe.
