This rustic trough would be the perfect addition to any traditionally designed home or garden. At 91x 37x 35cm, this planter has the proportions of a window box, but it would only be suitable for the largest of window sills. The motif on this window box is all acorns & oak leaves. This would certainly feel at home in the Great British Garden, & in the terracotta finish you can almost feel the warmth of a summer garden radiating from it. Let's face it, not everyone lives in a cosy, countryside cottage. That being said, the ' Terracotta' finish of this fibreglass planter is design neutral, so it will fit in with most traditional themes. This trough is also available in ' Faux Lead' which is much more suitable for contemporary home design themes. In ' Faux Lead', the motif is not ostentatious & the dark colour & conservative shape will allow it to fit subtly with modern fixtures & fittings. Although fibreglass is lightweight, when filled with soil this planter is liable to be quite heavy. So it will be easy to place & hard to move by the adverse effects of the wind. Furthermore, because this is made from fibreglass
- it is weather resistant & will age well. It is also frost resistant
- something that real terracotta is sadly prone to. As mentioned previously, the size of this planter means it is only suitable for larger window sills. It also means you have a lot of freedom & space for planting. If you place it on the ground & use it as a trough, then you can fill it with medium sized shrubs, buxus or taller perennials. If you are lucky enough to have a window sill large enough then you could plant this with small to medium sized flowering perennials or even some hanging plants. As with all window boxes, if you are planting this up with hanging plants, make sure to keep them well pruned
- so the weight is never enough to pull the planter from it's position.
