Product Description

Matthew Halsall & his fantastic Gondwana Orchestra perform brand new material live at the Union Chapel on the 29th October 2015. Featuring the vocal talents of Josephine Oniyama, this will be a very special show in one of London’s finest music venues.

Manchester based trumpeter, composer, arranger & b&-leader Matthew Halsall is one of the rising stars of European Jazz. With a label showcasing exciting young talent such as Mercury Music Prize nominees Go Go Penguin. Halsall has already made quite an impact, not just with his performance, but also his discovery & knowledge of new music.

Featuring his hard-grooving, eastern-tinged Gondwana Orchestra featuring Rachael Gladwin (harp), Jordan Smart (saxophones), Taz Modi (piano), Gavin Barras (double bass) & Luke Flowers (drums) as well as very special guest vocalist Josephine Oniyama, this show at Union Chapel will be another brilliant insight into the Gondwana label & the musicians that drive it.

They’ll be playing music from their forthcoming album, released in September 2015 as well as last year’s acclaimed release ‘ When The World Was One’ which was named as the i Tunes Jazz Album of the Year 2014. Join us down at one of London’s most beautiful venues.

“' Kind Of Blue' meets The Cinematic Orchestra … With hypnotic grooves, & a meditative slow-build to his solos, Halsall's music is saturated in a life-affirming glow” Time Out

“ Grooving through time on the spiritual sunship" Mojo Magazine
