The Duchy of Normandy, which they formed by treaty with the French crown, was one of the great fiefs of medieval France. The Normans were a war-like people & in 1066 William, Duke of Normandy invaded England & defeated the Anglo Saxons at the Battle of Hastings. The Norman Belt is based on an authentic period design & features enamelled brass fittings bearing heraldic beasts.
