The Atomic Millennium is the ultra-wide powder model for performance-driven female freeskiers. Freeski pro Molly Baker has helped to develop this ski – and it shows immediately: with a generous 110 mm waist width and huge Powder Rockers in the tip and tail, the Millennium delivers an ultra-light surf feeling in powder, while the tip-to-tail wood core cushions hard landings. The Millennium is just as much fun on harder terrain: the two rockers make it especially agile, while camber and a Step Down Sidewall ensure powerful edge grip on any terrain. Specification Geometry: 132mm / 110mm / 124mm Turn Radius: 18 metres at 177cm Terrain: Powder Core Material: Woodcore Camber/Rocker: Powder Rocker Bindings: FFG12 Features and Benefits Step Down SIdewall Woodcore The half-cap construction at the tip and tail area protects the ski from mechanical damage. Ski Core: MapleLite Macro Block. This consists of Solid maple underfoot with light weight Aspen at the tips for durability and reduced swing weight. Technology: This ski still uses their 5Cut radius to offer intuitive control and unlimited turn shapes. Combining this with the thin tip and cap construction to reduce weight and the directional flex to improve pop in the tail it creates a very playful, fun dynamic ski. This widest womens freeride ski from K2 provides the lost float for deep powder but is built with a twin tip for easy release in soft snow and added maneuverability. Ample camber underfoot increases the Remedys capabilities when the pow gets tracked out. SPECIFICATION Sidecut: 146mm-117mm-134mm Radius: 20 Metres (For 169cm Length) Base Profile: Powder Rocker Ski Core: Triaxial Braid, BioFlex3 Core Bindings: Ski Only Features and Benefits Powder Rocker This tip has the most elevation and longest measurement of Rocker and offers skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions. Simply put, Powder Rocker provides unmatched flotation in deep snow. Progressive Sidecut Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance. Bioflex Cores All of K2’s women’s skis use cores that feature a combination of Aspen, Paulownia, and Bamboo. BioFlex cores are comprised of strong Aspen wood underfoot, which is fused with lightweight Paulownia in the tip and tail using a specific interlocking pattern that reduces swing-weight and provides a smooth-flexing ski. For 2013/14, K2 continues to apply this technology through one of the following three variations of BioFlex, each specifically tuned to target different performance goals. Bioflex 3 – 80% Aspen/20% Paulownia – Increased performance, strength, and durability Twintech Sidewall Twin Tip specific construction increases the durability of K2 sidewall skis. A traditional sidewall construction produces a 90-degree angle where the top material and sidewall meet. The TwinTech construction rolls the top material into the sidewall, reducing the angle that is prone to abuse, minimizing ski-to-ski impact damage. Powder Tip Designed to be more predictable in soft snow conditions, these tips are designed to strike the perfect balance of maximizing float while reducing tip deflection. These tips are designed with a gentle arc and transition into the sidecut of the ski. Skin Grommets The new freeride tip and tail grommets are a clean, simple design that no longer requires a plug. The durable rubber coating disguises a slit designed to accommodate both the Z clip for our skin attachments, and the components to build a rescue sled. Swap Base The bases of these skis can come in two different color ways, depending of how the colors are swapped on the base. This gives two looks to the same ski, and ensures you are not rocking the exact same pair as your buddy who just picked up the same pair of skis. Triaxial Braid The patented Triaxial Braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled core, resulting in great torsional strength while retaining the lively flex patterns inherent in a wood core ski.
