With the Head THE ROD, fun and quick success to parallel skiing is easy. Free from norms and constraints you can learn to ski simply and in a fun way without skimping on safety and quality. The full release binding, the wood core design and shape make the Head Salamander a great fun ski to use anywhere on the mountain. With an adjustable binding it is easy to adjust so the whole family can join in on the fun. The bindings can be adjusted by a qualified ski technician to suit ski boot sole lengths of 263mm - 391mm (This is the measurement stamped in mm on the heel, not the size of the boots) OUR OPINION For those interested in trying ski blades, we feel these Head blades, with a traditional wood core and a full alpine ski binding with standard releasing modes, is a modern spin on the blade and offers a high degree of safety in the event of a fall. The bindings do add some weight but the blades are still easy to carry and pack.
A short length mini carving skis for those not wanting a full length ski, but still wishing to have a full release binding. Salomon are well known in the ski industry for producing solid dependable skis that are powerful and versatile yet still easy to ski on. For the 2015 season they do not disappoint. They have split their skis up into different categories to make things easier with their All mountain front side (piste orientated) skis falling into their X-series range, while the backside range becoming part of their Quest category. Still utilizing their popular X-Chassis on a number of skis in their X-series range this diagonal carbon reinforcement placed mid ski adds torsional stiffness for great edge grip and stability, they use this with RKS rocker stabilization to really lock in the tips of the ski and this offers really easy turn initiation. On their quest range they use many of these ideas from their piste side, yet incorporate the honeycomb tip to reduce the swing weight along with utility rocker for optimum flotation and control with excellent terrain absorption. At 125cm long these are a cross over of Blades and standard skis. Although they will not offer the edge hold, stability or float that you would get from a standard length, they do offer a really easy skiing style and allow the user to put in quick tight turns on piste. Ski Specification Geometry: 102mm/78mm/112mm for 125cm length Turn Radius: 10.5 Metres for 125cm length Terrain: Piste Core Material: Monocoque Composite. Camber/Rocker: All Terrain Rocker Bindings: EL10 Bindings, DIN range 3-10 A short length mini carving skis for those not wanting a full length ski, but still wishing to have a full release binding. They are also a lot more stable than the 90cm Blades and so if you enjoy skiing blades but are worried about your knees then these could be an ideal option.+ The Salomon ShortKart at 125cm sits between full length skis and blades, giving a bit more rebound and damping than shorter blades, and a much shorter turning radius too. Is this for me? For those who think that skiing shorter skis is for them, these are the safer bet over blades. They have a full release binding, and with 125cm length, there is still some plank to absorb some shocks from the knees. A super tight radius allows for short turns.
