In more interrupted terrain, the smaller sizes are recommended, with the 194cm being reserved for the expert end of the freeride market! Built in the heart of Chamonix, the award-winning Cham 127 is a high-performance freeride floatation device that excels in the most demanding terrain and snow conditions. Chams combination of long tip rocker, 5-point sidecut, and real-deal sandwich construction delivers incredible power, maneuverability and float. The unique flat/pintail design enhances tip float in the deepest snow conditions, offers instant speed control, and provides all-mountain power, tracking and stability that redefines freeride performance. Ski Technology Levitation Profile The combination of a 5 point sidecut, extra long tip rocker, traditional camber underfoot and narrower «pin-tail» produces the reliability and versatility that are essential in freeride. All Snow Rocker A fairly long, progressive tip-only rocker for improved terrain absorption and impeccable flotation in powder. Ski rotation is facilitated making fore/aft balance easier and reducing muscle fatigue off-piste. The flat tail means you dont lose the tail pressure required for high speed Freeride or off-piste jump landings. Pin and Flat Tail A flat, narrower tail that maximises the benefits of the 5 point sidecut. Wood Titanal Construction Traditional sandwich technology with wood core and two titanal layers that provide excellent stability in carving and greatly reduce torsional effects. The power is provided by two layers of fibreglass whose basic weight varies depending on the model and the desired skiability. The double melamine/phenol sidewalls ensure flexibility and power according to the skiers needs in the different phases of the turn. A stunning Freeride twin tip ski that, at 104mm underfoot, will cope with surfing fresh powder bowls, spinning of 6ft kickers and dropping 20ft cliffs, we are not sure what this ski cannot do. Blizzard are a relatively new brand for us with last season being the first season that we stocked their range, however, having had the chance to get out on them at the ski test they are already a firm favourite of many of the staff and offer some great performing skis that sold really well and gained great feedback from our regular customers. Although not as well known here in the UK as some other brands, Blizzard have utilized their flip core technology that gives them a great fun feel whilst still offering great edge hold. The Blizzard flipcore is a revolutionary rocker technology offering natural spring, lightweight flotation in powder and yet retaining excellent stability at low and high speeds. The natural rocker shape is produced without having to bend or artificially shape the ski in a press, the end result is a new rockered construction hat reaches a new level of stability and even pressure distributer that is unheard of in Freeride ski construction. Another solidly made Bizzard ski, but this one offers a twin tip design to offer that greater versatility. Still utilizing the flipcore and tip and tail rocker this ski will suit playful skiers or those who want to really get into the Freeride scene... With camber underfoot and rocker only at the tip and tail this still offers good edge hold, yet is designed for those who will be constantly looking off the edge of the piste for a natural hit or nice empty bowl to get some fresh lines in. Advanced to expert skiers will relish the performance that this ski offers all over the mountain. SKI BINDING ADVICE: You will need a minimum 110mm brake width for this ski. THE SUMMIT CONQUEST Hike and ride the biggest couloirs with total control and performance in a superlight package. SCOTT’s new construction pairs the lightweight characteristics of Paulownia wood with carbon stringers for strength and confident torsional rigidity. Features Scott Pro Tip Rocker 375 Combining a progressive shape with increased tip height and radius creates Pro-Tip Rocker. SCOTTs Pro-Tip produces a more consistent ski flex and predictable turns. SCOTT skis, using Pro-Tip Rocker, simply track better than the competition and are available in three heights catering specifically to the skis’ intended use: 300mm (Precision On-Piste), 350mm (All-Mountain), 375 and 450mm (Freeride). SCOTT skis combine two radii (dual radius) to create the sidecut or “shape” of the ski. By incorporating the Dual Radius concept, the ski can turn when you want it to turn, resulting in a more versatile ski which is not confined to one type of skiing or terrain. Factory Finish SCOTT skis come direct from the factory ready to ski with SCOTT factory finish. Every factory finished ski leaves the factory with side edges ground at 89° and base edges ground between 0.5° and 0.8° for exceptional performance. This is the slightly wider model at 108 underfoot and is a competitor to the very popular Volkl Gotama. Comparing the two i would say that this feels slightly lighter underfoot and so slightly more manoeuvrable, while the Volkl feel slightly more solid in chopped up snow, but this is nitpicking and I did really enjoy this ski. It felt very planted and stable and yet coped with whatever was thrown at it. It is at it best when skied hard and fast and so would really suit the advanced skier who is confident on the blacks and wants a little more width underfoot to cope playing off the sides when conditions allow. Is this for me? This is stiff and aggressive and designed for the advanced skiers who are confident on piste and enjoy going hard and fast, but would now like something that withholds the edge grip performance but offers greater versatility to cope with the new snow and playing off piste. SKI BINDING ADVICE: You will need a minimum 110mm brake width for this ski. Y
