Metal Grip is an expoxy-P-Tex mix used to dress deep gouges in ski bases which have exposed the core, or gouges next to the ski or snowboard edge.It is applied ideally with a soldering iron such as the Kunzmann Base Doc II (See below) and becomes active at a lower heat, acting as a dressing before P-Tex application. When using we recommend strong ventilation due to the potency of the product, and also once applied, leave for a good period of time to ensure thorough adhesion.Once applied and dry, apply p-tex, and this should result in a much more permanent repair, protecting the core of your skis or board, and if near an edge offering enough adhesion to reduce weakness next to the edge.Always prepare the area you are going to Metal Grip to make sure it is clean and clear of debris/fibres.Recommended for competent ski technicians. Â
Repair pistols are a key component in a professional ski/board technicians workshop, but cost many hundreds of pounds. Power Adhesives, manufacturers of glue guns and pro workshop repair pistols have taken their knowledge from glue guns, talked to UK ski and snowboard technicians such as ourselves, and created a compact repair pistol for the home DIY person. Running safely at a much higher temperature than a traditional glue gun, it has a customised application nib, for smooth application of repair material to your base. This gun kit comes complete with a support stand 4 1/2 polymer repair sticks to allow you to learn before first live application. EVERY gun is tested before packing, so you will find some residual repair material in the pistol. This does NOT mean it is used! Power Adhesives have a 100% QC check process, for customer safety and assurance. Contents: Gun, Gun Stand, 4 x Polymer Repair Sticks Fitted with 6 foot flex Voltage: 230 Volts Heating Up Time: 10-15 minutes Operating Temperature: Approx 440 degrees F Diameter Of Repair Sticks: 1/2 HOW TO USE To give an extended tutorial on how to use a repair gun correctly would take more than a paragraph. You can see repair guns in use by clicking on the EDGEANDWAXTVÂ link on our website and viewing the workshop videos. As a basic guide, you should leave the gun switched on - in a safe location - for around 5-7 minutes, to allow the head to fully heat up. Once heated up, only light trigger pressure should be required to extrude repair material onto the base. Before repairing a scratch in the base, ensure it is clean, and if it is a core shot that it has been pre-treated with Metal Grip base repair material. Then use the gun to gently heat the repair area up BEFORE applying material. Once heated start at the furthest point from you of the scratch, gently squeeze the trigger and draw the gun towards you. Place the gun carefully back in the stand, and allow the repair to cool for as long as possible, we suggest AT LEAST 15 minutes but if possible leave overnight for good adhesion and cooling. Please note that the gun may drip a little repair material when in the stand. This is normal, but do allow for this when you decide where to place your stand. We also recommend cleaning the repair pistol head as soon as it has cooled down to remove excess material, using a metal scraper, and lightly sanding when it has become dirty. We also recommend using black repair rods. Clear repair rods do not always give as clean a fixation, and are prone to discolouring with heat. A black repair rod gives better adhesion and durability. Our Opinion A great tool for the enthusiastic DIY ski/board tech. Treated with respect, a repair gun can give a very long lasting and professional repair. Is This For Me? If you are looking to set up a comprehensive home DIY workshop a repair gun is a great investment and will save time on base repairs giving a more durable fix.

The HOLMENKOL TriMaxx Alpine provides a possibility to improve the gliding performance of mechanical grinded and unstructured skis. Three structures are available from this advanced ski tech tool. If you do not have £££££ to buy a diamond stone structure machine or want a temporary structure this tool is ideal. It is so portable too, making it popular with racers. Three different intermittent structures are possible: 0, 8 mm for fine, dry snow 1, 2 mm for old or moist new snow 1, 6 mm for coarse, wet to very wet snow HOW TO USE 1. Fix ski in a good quality ski vice 2. Roughen the base surface with a green Holmenkol Structure Pad or sandpaper to improve the wax absorption 3. Wax as usual, scrape off and brush out well 4. Take the structure tool in both hands. Adjust it to the ski breadth and place it on the ski base, so that a structure roll and a roll guide are set on the ski 5. Apply pressure on the tool and move it along the ski, from the tip to the end 6. As the TriMaxx Alpine does not structure the complete ski base at once, it has to be turned by 180° and afterwards the procedure has to be repeated 7. Avoid going back and forth with the structure tool as this ruins the structure more than it helps 8. Finally, brush out with a fine brush, such as a Holmenkol horsehair brush FEATURES - Structure for optimal water drain. - Three structures at one tool (no work to change rolls). - Ergonomic roll guides for precise structures. - Flexible roll guides allow structures on any kind of ski.
