We are delighted to bring you this special garlic, Edenrose! In France it is famously known as garlic Rose de Lautrec but that has protected status (like Melton Mowbray pies!) & cannot be sold outside of the region of origin
- the clay/chalky hillsides of the Tarn.
It is renowned throughout France for its remarkable taste: sweet & subtle, its flavour is gentle on your taste buds & spices up all your dishes, 'from the most simple to the most refined'.
Legend has it that Rose de Lautrec pink garlic first appeared in the Lautrec region in the Middle Ages. A travelling merchant stopped in a place called l' Oustallarié in Lautrec to have something to eat. Since he did not have any money, he offered nice pink cloves of garlic to pay for his meal. The innkeeper then planted the cloves, which is how pink garlic became popular & then expanded throughout the entire region.
