Whyte & Mackay Special blend is created by carefully blending 41 different whiskies together & then marrying them together. The key to the blend is double maturing the whisky at different stages. They get the vatted malt & let it mature in sherry butts, leaving it for several months during its first marriage. The blended malt is then mixed with six different grain whiskies & returns to another set of sherry butts to complete its second stage of maturation before it is finally bottled. The second maturation is the key to the smooth, mellow flavour that is Whyte & Mackay, no one else takes such trouble & that is why for over 100 years, Whyte & Mackay has always been special.
