Veuve Clic was founded by Philippe Clic & more particularly madam Clicquot. They gradually built up the Veuve Clic property to make it one of the foremost vineyards in Champagne. The Veuve Clic vineyards cover 515 hectares, of which 485 are used for production of the grapes. The land is split between Veuve Clic & their parent company, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy. The Veuve Clic Ponsardin 1988 Brut Rare Vintage was disgorged in November 2005 after 17 years of cellaring at the Veuve Clic House. This vintage is made up from twenty vintages; all classified as Premiers or Grands Crus. It is both delicate & long lasting champagne with a bouquet which is fine & complex. Strong in the aromas of dried fruits & flowers, there is an elegant harmony in the nose that is reminiscent of toast & brioche.
