The Ardbeg 10 year old is known to be one of the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all. This year it was awarded the best single malt Scotch of the year for under 10 years old at the whisky bible awards. In addition, it does not follow the conventional way of whisky making. Most whiskies are chill-filtered & reduced to the strength of 40% ABV, however the Ardbeg is not chill-filtered & bottled at a strength of 46% ABV. Also because it is not chill-filtered, it contains more of the flavour from the peat & barley, making this one of the most flavourful whiskies there is.
