Gold Reef is named after the ' Sun reflecting on the Islay coral seabed' this unique whisky has the same golden colour running through it. Having only been released this year Gold Reef is already picking up awards having won a gold medal at the IWSC 2014, & a silver medal at the ISC 2014. Gold Reef is predominantly matured in first fill ex Bourbon casks that helps to mellow out the usually strong peat flavour Bowmore has, leaving Gold Reef with a wonderfully light taste. Bowmore is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland having been established in 1779, as it did then Bowmore sources its ingredients from the local land next to the distillery on Islay. Nose: Vanilla, lime, peach, & hint of smokiness Taste: Lime, citrus, oak, & peat
