Born 1903 in Koryčany, Czechia, Jindrich Halabala brought mass market production of furniture to Czechoslovakia. He grew up training to become a cabinetmaker at his father’s joinery workshop before entering the state-owned woodworking school in Valašské Meziříčí in 1920. Halabala's designs drew from Czech cubism, Art Deco & classic European mid-century modern & included chairs, tables, sideboards, lamps & more. Due to his contribution to & execllence in furniture & interior design, the Czech Republic now host an anual award in his name. Our H-296 armchair was made during the 1940's & has since been fully refurbished in a beautiful grey woven fabric. This item is rare & unique & a true invesment piece.
