Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 (TSM) introduces a DB2 based, nonproprietary database, as well as new features, commands, & supported devices & platforms. In this course, you will explore the new features & commands with lectures & hands-on exercises. You will discover features like data deduplication; a method of eliminating redundant data in storage pools, enhancements to the Administration Center, & active-data pools for disaster recovery. You will also install & use Tivoli Common Reporting. You will plan & upgrade Tivoli Storage Manager V5 to Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1. Implementing Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 involves upgrading from the Tivoli Storage Manager proprietary database to a provided DB2 database. Basic DB2 functions & queries will be discussed in the class, to ensure you have the necessary skills to manager the Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 database.
