To make sure they were making the Light Hike as good as it could be, Berghaus asked hikers finishing the West Highland Way what they wanted from a lightweight waterproof. The result is a jacket that weighs way less than a can of pop but offers fantastically breathable protection against serious storms. The Hydroshell Elite fabric uses a printed-on Argentium layer instead of a conventional lining; this is comfortable & dry to the touch as well as odour-resistant, but cuts out the extra weight & bulk of a fabric liner. Little touches really optimise weather protection, such as the extra coverage of a drop-tail hem. Even the zip has been thoroughly thought out: it's a reversed coil design, which is great for water resistance, but to be really weather-tight, there's a storm flap over it too. Lightweight, dependable protection, designed for – & by – walkers.
