Product Description

Peach Chancelliere Fine Bone China Mug is part of the Kew Gardens Pomologie collection. The range has been created from the Library at The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, one of the worlds foremost archives of rare & historically significant artwork. The Pomolgie Collection really does touch the senses, with luscious elements of fruit, all taken from the original illustrations of French pomologist & artist, Pierre-Antoine Poiteau. Published in 1846, Pomologie Francaise is one of the worlds finest & most beautiful books on fruit ever produced. The artist, Pierre-Antoine Poiteau (1766-1854) was a french pomologist & gardener who travelled extensively throughout his life, discovering many species of plants & animals. He was a great admirer of the Redoute style & utilised the colour printing techniques he devised. The Pomolgie Francaise was published by Langlois, the master of colour printing who supervised much of Redoutes most celebrated work.
