- 1865) is a three volume work published between 1850 & 1853. It features plants suited to the flower garden & represents many exotic species including fine orchids, illustarted with lithographic plates by L. Constans & E.A. Prevost. Paxton was a landscape gardener & architect who is best known for his design for the Crystal Palace used at the Great Exhibition of 1851. Lindley was a botanist & horticulturist, who played a crucial role in the future of the Gardens at Kew when, in 1838, he produced a report recommending that Kew become a national centre for botany.
