Product Description

LOCATION A very special, riverside position on ' The Quay' in Dittisham (known locally as Ditsum!), just a 10-minute drive (or 20-30-minute river cruise via the small passenger ferry or hired boat) from the historic naval town of Dartmouth, with its award-winning restaurants, individual boutique shops & delightful waterfront. The Ferry Boat Inn (one of two pubs in the village, in addition to a shop/post office) & widely acclaimed Anchorstone Cafe serving locally-sourced fish & seafood in a stunning riverside location, are within 100 yards of the cottage, whilst Agatha Christie's former home ' Greenway' (now owned by the National Trust) is a short ferry 'hop' across from The Quay. The beautiful unspoilt South Devon coastline is also nearby, with Blue Flag-awarded Blackpool Sands beach around a 20-minute drive away.VIEWS stunning, uninterrupted views across the River Dart from the sitting room, two front bedrooms, & small quayside terrace. Further river views over the cottage from the elevated decking area to the rear.ENTRANCE The cottage is accessed from The Quay
- via a covered porch & stable door (see full details regarding ' Access Information' below), directly into the sitting room.SITTING/DINING ROOM This cosy living area, with low ceiling, original supporting beams & delightful views is well-presented & benefits from a wood-burning stove. The room is comfortably furnished with a corner sofa, a chaise longue, coffee table, & sideboard with TV & Sky box with a full viewing package. A doorway & two steps lead into the dining room with a pine table & six chairs. Two steps lead up into the kitchen.KITCHEN A range of painted base & wall units with fitted appliances including a four-ring hob, integrated electric oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, & fridge/freezer. A door leads out to the rear terrace area. An open staircase ascends from kitchen to the first floor bedrooms. BEDROOMS Three in total. The en suite master bedroom is situated at the rear of the property & is a light & airy room with a vaulted ceiling, & French doors leading out to the rear terrace. The room is furnished with a King-size bed, two bedside cabinets with wall lights over, a chest of drawers with sidelight & flatscreen TV, built-in wardrobes with hanging space, a bedside armchair, & a stool. The en suite shower room has a shower cubicle, w.c., bidet, & wash hand basin. Bedroom two has superb river views & is furnished with a double bed, chest of drawers with sidelight & flatscreen TV, freestanding mirror, a bookcase with a selection of books & games, & a built-in wardrobe with hanging space. Bedroom three has superb river views & is furnished with fixed triple bunk beds (the top bunk is 7’ from the floor & is not suitable for young children) & a built-in wardrobe with hanging & shelving.BATHROOMS As well as the en suite (above) there is a family bathroom fitted with a panelled bath with h&-held shower attachment, w.c., & a wash hand basin OUTSIDE To the rear of the cottage, accessed either from the master bedroom or a flight of external steps from the kitchen, is an enclosed cobbled terrace with bistro table & chairs. A further flight of steps leads up to the decked terrace with table & chairs & a chimnea. This area has good river views over the quayside cottages rooftops. PARKING Whilst there is no allocated parking at the cottage, spaces can usually be found on ' The Ham' nearby (approx. 100m), or on ' The Level' at the top of the village. Both are pay & display, public car parks.OTHER INFORMATION Tiled flooring at ground floor level with carpets in the bedrooms, & an open-tread wooden staircase. Both bathrooms have tiled flooring. Wireless broadband internet available. Strictly no smoking. One well-behaved dog is welcome (the owner may accept two small dogs on request -please contact the office to discuss). Paddleboards & boats can be hired from the nearby pontoon.ACCESS INFORMATION It is important to appreciate that The Quay in Dittisham is accessed by one steep & narrow road (mostly one car width) only. Whilst it may be possible to park for a short period nearby to unload/load on arrival/departure this will be dependent on local tides & usage of the nearby pub & cafe. We strongly advise guests to park at The Ham & carry luggage (preferably in small, soft bags not suitcases!) along The Quay to Quay Cottage. We also recommend that first time Dittisham visitors contact our office and/or take time to research the village fully prior to booking.
