The SURESIGN Total Cholesterol Tests include test strips that are treated with chemical reagents. A whole blood sample is absorbed on a receiving pad on the back of a test strip. The blood sample absorbs through to the front of a test strip & reacts with the reagents. The chemistry used is the very well established cholesterol esterase/cholesterol oxidase enzymatic reaction to produce hydrogen peroxide followed by the peroxidase catalyzed reaction hydrogen peroxide with a colourless indicator which thereby produces colour. The colour produced on the reaction pad can be related to the cholesterol concentration in the blood by comparison with a supplied colour chart. The deeper the colour is, the higher the Cholesterol level. The Suresign Total Cholesterol Test is to measure total cholesterol in the blood. The Suresign Total ++ Cholesterol Test is for both total & HDL cholesterol, & by calculation LDL cholesterol measurements.
