Droncit Tablets Droncit Tablets are a highly effective treatment against all the common species of tapeworm infecting dogs & cats in the United Kingdom & Irel&, including Echinococcus granulosus, Taenia ovis, Taenia pisiformis, Taenia multiceps, Taenia hydatigena, Taenia taeniaeformis, & Dipylidium caninum. The tablets are effective against both immature & mature forms of adult tapeworms. Droncit Tablets are safe for pregnant females, but are not suitable for puppies & kittens, or dogs weighing less than 2.5kg. Adult cats primarily suffer from tapeworms, however adult dogs usually suffer from roundworms or a mixture of roundworms & tapeworms, so for adult dogs you may consider a dual wormer such as Drontal. Worming & Flea Control Fleas are often infected with tapeworm larvae, which can be transferred to your cat by swallowing the flea while grooming, so in order to control worms, you also need to control fleas. If you don't control a flea problem at the same time as worming, your cat is almost certain to be re-infected. The easiest way to prevent this is to use a spot on flea protection such as Frontline regularly. Directions The recommended dose is 5mg 3kg body weight, which equates to 1 tablet per 10kg body weight: Adult Cats: tablet Adult Dogs:2.5-5kg: tablet 6-10kg: 1 tablet 11-20kg: 2 tablets 20-30kg: 3 tablets Over 30kg: pro rata The tablets are administered by opening the animal's mouth & pushing the tablet over the back of the tongue so that it cannot be rejected. Alternatively, a tablet can be wrapped in a piece of meat or butter & offered to the animal or crushed & mixed with the food.A single dose is all that is required. However, for dogs in rural areas & for packs of hounds, this dose should be repeated every four weeks to ensure that newly acquired tapeworms are destroyed before reaching maturity. Dosing must be associated with strict control of the dog's diet to ensure that uncooked offal is not eaten. Active Ingredient 50mg praziquantel
