Unlike emollient retention garments, Derma Silk Therapeutic Clothing is intended to be worn continuously as a preventative base layer of underclothing to help control eczema & reduce both the frequency & severity of eczema flares, effectively replacing normal underwear & nightwear Derma Silk Therapeutic Clothing is made from a special knitted medical grade silk which has been stripped of its outer coating & bonded with Microbe Shield technology. It is far superior to cotton because it retains up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp & has been clinically proven to control the symptoms of eczema far better than cotton underclothing. The antimicrobial used only works when the fabric is actually touching the skin so that it does not wear out over time due to washing. The possibility of bacterial resistance developing is virtually zero because the shield acts by physically damaging the microbe cell walls rather than killing them by chemical toxins such as triclosan or silver. There is no migration of the antimicrobial agent from the silk to the skin so no risk of a build up of any toxic compounds on the delicate skin of the wearer. The antimicrobial is colourless & odourless Derma Silk Therapeutic Clothing does not contain silver molecules of any sort, nor any nano-particle material. It only comes in its natural silk colour as dyes used in the manufacture might provoke allergic reactions.
