Iconic Eighties Football Shirts

As most eighties shirts were sported tightly, beneath faintly comical barnets and/or moustaches (cf. Ian Rush & Neville Southall, for whom every month was Movember; or Newcastle’s Glenn Hoddle who stands as possibly the dictionary definition of the non-aquatic mullet). On-pitch tackles, meanwhile, were anything but comical for the recipients, boasting as they did all the subtlety of a rocket-propelled grenade. The early works of Vinnie Jones certainly bring a tear to the eye, in a manner entirely different to the early works of, say, Michaelangelo. On the terraces, shirts were tight, jeans were tight, trainers probably had three stripes, & jackets were man-made flammable affairs. Hairdos & ‘taches, although optional, were recommended. To properly recreate the spirit of the eighties football casual, they still are.
