Tascam DR-100MKIII Handheld Digital Recorder TASCAM’s top-of-the-line Handheld Digital Recorder, the DR-100mkIII boasts a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 100dB, delivering the best audio performance in the history of TASCAM portable stereo recorders. Designed to meet the needs of the most demanding audio designers and engineers, this new model combines robust reliability, an updated user interface and studio quality sonic performance to deliver a truly breathtaking audio experience. The DR-100mkIII uses two independent AK4558 ADC converters. By eliminating interference between left and right channels, signal-to-noise ratio is maximized and audio fidelity is improved. In addition, each of those AD converters can work in a Dual ADC mode. The two AD converters work in tandem then combine their results for a 109dB S/N ratio, beating the (already excellent) 102dB S/N ratio achieved when recording in standard mode. With a dual battery structure that features a built-in high-capacity lithium-ion battery as well as with hot-swappable AA batteries, operation is possible for extended periods of time and is ready to go when you are. Additionally, the DR-100mkIII can be rapidly charged by connecting an AC adapter and even support USB Bus power from an external battery pack commonly used to charge mobile phones and tablets. TASCAM’s exclusive Dual Level Recording function simultaneously records a secondary backup file at a lower gain level than the primary recording. This safety file, recorded at a 12db lower level protects your recording session from unexpected volume spikes and accidental overload. The precision of the built-in clock is crucial when digital recordings made on what device are to be used in conjunction with materials recorded on other devices, such as when combining digital audio and video assets. To ensure stability, the DR-100mkIII utilizes the same Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) used in professional studio master recorders. Moreover, the TCXO is not affected by the temperature of the environment, critical for a portable device which must maintain its precision in support of high-quality recording. XRI (eXtended Recording Information) function stores keeps track of all recording settings as part of the file. This powerful features allows the user to easily double-check the details of the original recording for logging or replication of recording conditions at a later date. This information includes date and time of recording, input sources selection and levels, ADC mode on/off status and more. XRI information is stored as part of the BWF data block. When working on location, decisions must be made quickly and efficiently, and an intuitive and consistent User Interface is critical. By gathering feedback from users of the original DR-100 and the mkII, we have been able to add a variety of usability enhancements designed to streamline workflow and help audio professionals achieve success quickly and efficiently.
The optional SGH-6 shotgun capsule adds a professional-quality hyper-directional (that is, highly directional) microphone to the H6, making it the perfect audio recorder for anyone working in film, video or live theatre, or for ENG (electronic news gathering) applications. Thanks to the three internal mics with digital signal processing ability, the SGH-6 achieves a frequency independent super-cardioid polar pattern. Compared to ordinary shotgun microphones using an acoustic tube method, the SGH-6 maintains a highly directional pickup at about half the length. Shotgun microphones are often used when you cannot position a microphone directly in front of a sound source. For example, if someone is speaking in front of a video camera and you don't want them to hold an interview microphone up to their mouth, the solution is to use an off-screen shotgun mic. However, shotgun mics are not the audio equivalent of a photographic telephoto lens. Even though they do an above-average job of picking up sounds that originate from a short distance away, they always sound better when they're physically close to the sound source. If the capsule is more than three feet away, the audio will start to sound distant. The farther away it is, the more distant and reverberant the audio will become. Note: The SGH-6 is a monaural microphone.

These are housed within an advanced shockmount that employs rugged external mic wires and rubberized material to isolate the unit from the H5 body and thus minimize vibration and handling noise. The design of the XYH-5 also allows the H5 to handle louder sounds than any other Handy Recorder model: 140 dB SPL, to be precise—equivalent to the sound of a jet aircraft from less than 200 feet away—enabling you to capture sounds louder, closer, and cleaner than you ever couldbefore. In addition to standard transport controls (stop, play/pause, record, rewind, and fast-forward), the front panel of the H5 offers dedicated record arming buttons for each track, which double as mute switches during playback. A Hold switch disables all front panel buttons to prevent accidental operation during recording. The H5 can be attached to a camera strap or, with the use of our optional Hot Shoe mount, mounted directly to a DSLR or camcorder. The H5 also provides everything you need to connect with the outside world. Dual combo XLR/TRS inputs that can handle both mic- and line-level signals allow you to connect external microphones and line-level devices like mixers, portable music players, effects processors, and electronic keyboards—even electric guitars or basses equipped with active electronics. Each H5 input has its own dedicated gain control knob, located beneath a protective bar that prevents accidental movement during handling. The supplied XYH-5 X/Y capsule also provides a secondary input for connecting stereo mic- or line-level signal via a ?" miniPhone jack. The H5 supports a +4 dB (professional) input level and utilizes the same high-quality preamps as our flagship H6, ensuring great-sounding recordings in all sonic environments. There are lots of output options as well. A dedicated Line Out with adjustable volume allows you to send a stereo audio output from the H5 to the mic input of a video camera or other device without the need for an attenuator cable. In addition, there's a separate headphone output with a dedicated volume control. You can use both outputs simultaneously to route audio to your DSLR while monitoring over headphones. There's also a built-in speaker for fast access playback, and a USB port which allows the H5 to be used as anaudio interface for your computer oriPad.

MyMyk SmartMyk - SMM-FG Microphone SmartMyk is a directional microphone which works by localising the sound to the image, rejecting background noise to concentrate on the sound from the subject of the camera's focus. It easily attaches to any DSLR or video camera, making it perfect for professional recording, home videos, internet broadcasting, journalism, sporting events and much more. Features: The SmartMyk delivers HD (Highly Defined) quality audio at its very best; transparent, clear recorded sound which is an authentic replication of the original source. The result is stunning sound that you never before thought possible, perfectly complementing the HD video of your production. Background noise is a common problem with in-built microphones which tend to pick up everything around them. The SmartMyk uses a highly directional electret condenser microphone and rejection tube to minimise background noise and localise the sound to the focused image, ensuring you get more of the sound you want, and less of what you don't. The red shock mount built into the SmartMyk is made of TPE soft synthetic rubber, ensuring any noise created through camera handling vibrations are reduced to a minimum. The TPE material is also extremely resistant to cold temperatures which prevent it from freezing and therefore losing its flexible shock mount properties. The SmartMyk uses a 3.5 mm jack, complete with a 150mm curly cable, which plugs into any camera with a 3.5mm microphone input. The signal to the camera is dual mono delivering an identical signal to both the left and right audio track. With the aid of a readily available adaptor, it can also be used with cameras or other equipment that require an alternative input configuration (for example XLR inputs). The SmartMyk weighs an incredible 60g, making it one of the lightest condenser microphones of its type on the market today. The body, tube and housing of the microphone are made of polycarbonate ABS material which is extremely lightweight, while at the same time remaining strong and robust. No need to detach the microphone before packing it away; unlike many other microphones on the market, the profile of the SmartMyk is so small that it comfortably fits into most camera bags still affixed to the camera. The SmartMyk is powered by a reliable and widely-used CR 2032 button cell battery, which provides an impressive battery life of approximately 200 hours of continuous usage (depending on the climatic conditions under which it is used). The SmartMyk is proudly designed in Australia by a consortium of industry professionals from the sound, film and broadcast industries, combined with a team of highly skilled industrial and electronic designers with major contributions from many of Australia's leading location sound recordists and cameramen.
