KENKO KFM-1100 light meter, an easy-to-use, accurate, full-featured hand-held light meter for reading both ambient and flash light. For most people the minimal, clearly marked buttons will make using the meter second nature in very little time. The side of the meter only has 3 buttons, the largest is for taking measurements, the other two set on a rocker are UP/DOWN input buttons for changing F no., shutter speed or ASA/ISO. This simple, easy-to-use ergonomic design feels comfortable in your hand and its logical control layout will please photographers who want to concentrate on the subject, not their equipment. Large, easy to read LCD_displays measurements in F no. format with large numbers in 1/10 stop increments and in more common 1/2 stop increments in a pointer scale across the top of the LCD display. LCD also has a back-light for easy reading in low light situations. The meter is sensitive enough for ambient (existing) light to be measured for a shutter speed range from 30 minutes to 1/8000 of a second. In Cine mode it can be used to read frame-rates of 8 to 128 frames/sec. For measuring flash, the meter has modes to either trigger the flash using a sync-cord or set to non-sync cord for manual flash triggering. The aperture range that can be displayed is from f/1.0 to f/128. Useful in mixed flash/ambient lighting situations, the “Analyze” function can determine the ratio of ambient to flash light in a scene. This feature is very handy in scenes where a flash is being used to “open up” a shadowed area left by ambient (natural) light. The meters “Calculation” function can be used to average measurements that have been stored in memory, very useful in reflected light measurements to capture highlight or shadow detail more accurately. The KFM-1100 has two memory “slots” to store previous measurements that can be recalled for reference or for averaging. Just press the “M” button after each reading to store it in memory. If the memory has two readings stored, it will delete the oldest reading to store the current information.

Kenko Colour Meter KCM-3100 Knowing the colour temperature of a light source is extremely important for consistently accurate colour reproduction in photography. Reproducing accurate colour is critical in many areas of photography such as fashion and commercial photography. Useful for both still and cine photography, the KCM-3100‘s uncluttered control button layout and large easy-to-read LCD makes it very user friendly. Three display modes display colour temperatures, designed for different types of photography and filtering systems. LB (Light Balancing) LB index is used to select the necessary amber or blue LB filter. The Mired difference between the specific photographic colour temperature for the selected film type and the light source. CC (Colour-Correction) displays the Kodak filter number(s) of the necessary light-balancing filter(s) to make for easy selection of the required light balancing filter. Where as the LB system uses Amber or blue filters, the CC system uses Magenta or Green colour compensating filters. Photographic colour temperature in degrees Kelvin. This is a useful setting to determine filtration based on the light source and the spectral sensitivity of the film used. The ability to take ambient and flash light readings using either a sync cord or non-cord. Using a sync cord, the flash is fired when the reading button is pushed. In the non sync cord mode, pushing the reading button puts the meter in a stand-by mode and when the flash is fired the meter displays those readings. “Analyser Mode” for measurement of flash lighting only. Setting the shutter speed to “F”, the meter will only read light from flash. 9 memory channels for customizing the meter to your equipment and materials- All film and equipment manufacturers claim that their products are calibrated or balanced to “daylight” (5500K) or tungsten (3400K or 3200K), but in the real world these number are often not 100% accurate. Film can vary from batch to batch and light bulbs and flash tubes can have slight shifts in colour over time. Once these differences are determined, The KCM-3100’s 9 memory channels allow the photographer to enter custom setting based on the situations or individual film characteristics they are working with. Once the data is entered and stored, the meter will adjust future readings accordingly.
