Bring a taste (not literally, you understand) of the traditional country garden into your kitchen with this charming little pear tree. After all pears have been one of the staple fruits of this country for centuries. There's an Elizabethan recipe that describes ' Pears stewed in malmsey & flamed with brandy' that sounds like it would really get your dinner-party guests dancing on the table. & while our pear tree is strictly ornamental, it looks so completely realistic that you may have to warn your guests. Laden with ripening fruit that's almost ready for picking, it stands 45cm tall ...

Prince Albert started it all: the British tradition of decorating fir trees at Christmas time. In 1840 he married Victoria Â- well, strictly speaking she married him. Victoria was the queen, Albert a minor German prince & protocol had to be observed. But anyway, on their first Christmas together they had three huge trees in Buckingham Palace & several more at Windsor. The Illustrated London News ran a feature on the new ' Christmas trees' & they became a festive 'must-have'. Some people called it a 'craze', but crazes come & go. Now, 176 years later, Christmas trees are more popular than ever. Which is why our new Woodland Tree looks set to take the nation's living rooms & halls by storm. Richer, fuller, more luxurious
- it's astonishingly lifelike, with painstaking attention to detail right down to the individual (non-dropping) needles. Perfectly shaped, & so fresh & green visitors will think it's just been cut
- all it needs are a few drops of our pine tree scent for the final finishing touch. We'd like to think Prince Albert would have approved. & when she was told it wasn't actually real, perhaps even Victoria would have been amused.

White Dahlia Stem

They're a firm favourite with British flower lovers, but dahlias also have an international appeal. Which isn't too surprising. After all, they probably originated in Mexico, were discovered by early Spanish settlers and named after a Swedish botanist (Andreas Dahl). In other words, there's more to a dahlia than meets the eye. But - when you think about it - that's something that could be said about all Bloom flowers
