It's no secret that red roses mean true love. But in floriology
- that's the language of flowers
- there are many meanings that are secret but can now be revealed
- word by word, flower by flower. Yellow roses, for instance, mean joy & friendship & are relative latecomers to the floriological lexicon. You see for hundreds of years roses were white, pink or red. Then, in the 19th century Victorian plant hunters discovered yellow tea roses in China, along with a host of other wonderful colours & shades. Brought back to Engl&, these new roses swept all before them & florists couldn't keep up with dem&. Now why floriologists decided that yellow roses stood for joy & friendship or the joy of friendship isn't clear. It could be simply that these lovely flowers just seem to radiate good-natured happiness. That's why in each Bloom arrangement we've included a card explaining what those yellow roses mean. It's a charming finishing touch to a lovely gift that a special friend is sure to appreciate.
