- & how better than with this magnificent autumn favourites bouquet? Like the proverbial horn of plenty, it's an extravagant melange of yellow chrysanthemums, Chinese lantern, oak & yellow berries

Bees like cymbidiums & the feeling's mutual. In fact cymbidiums aren't just fond of bees, they make a point of getting up close & personal. They do this by laying a cunning trap. As the bee lands on the lower lip of the flower it springs up, enclosing the insect which can only escape by crawling backwards. In doing this, it passes first the stigma which it pollinates (if it's carrying pollen) & then the stamens
- picking up pollen for another cymbidium. Of course this only applies with natural, organic versions of the plant
- Bloom cymbidiums are pollen-free. Which is good news for allergy sufferers if rather frustrating for insects. Nevertheless don't be surprised if your cymbidium centrepiece attracts the odd bee or two
- especially if you add a little of our orchid or flower shop scent. That's the thing about our silk flowers

It's no secret that red roses mean true love. But in floriology - that's the language of flowers - there are many meanings that are secret but can now be revealed word by word, flower by flower. Chrysanthemums, for instance, indicate Truth and Friendship. The reason? Well in Japanese legend the orderly, progressive way the petals unfurl symbolises the way truth - initially hidden - is slowly revealed. And in the Shogun chivalric code, truth and loyalty were absolute essentials for friendship.
