The fields have been ploughed, the seeds scattered, the harvest has come to fruition & all is safely gathered in. It's a reason to celebrate
- & how better than with this magnificent autumn favourites bouquet? Like the proverbial horn of plenty, it's an extravagant melange of yellow chrysanthemums, Chinese lantern, oak & yellow berries
- displayed in a lovely old-fashioned Spode china jug. A wonderful celebration of the 'season of mists & mellow fruitfulness' it would look marvellous in a bay window, an alcove or on a sideboard. Then again, why not display it on a hall table to welcome visitors to your Harvest Home?

Whatever happened to the old-fashioned sweet shop? The sort that boasted shelves stacked with huge jars full of humbugs, caramels, fruit bonbons & sherbet lemons. They were shops that had a wonderful, unique smell
- although just one sniff was probably laden with calories
- & a magnetic appeal for children of all ages. Our barley-sugar bouquet captures some of that almost forgotten sweet, spicy excitement. A kaleidoscope of orange, white & blue, it's an irresistible temptation. So why try to resist?

You might be planning a special Bloom silk flower display for Christmas. Alternatively, perhaps you'd just like to give an existing favourite arrangement a touch of seasonal sparkle. Either way our Champagne gold branch stem ticks all the right boxes. Its twiggy, linear form provides the perfect contrast to softer, gentler curves. Those jagged angles highlight the delicate textures of petals & leaves. It's strong enough to hang the heaviest baubles from & that rich golden colour is the ideal way of adding shimmer & sparkle. ...

Bees like cymbidiums & the feeling's mutual. In fact cymbidiums aren't just fond of bees, they make a point of getting up close & personal. They do this by laying a cunning trap. As the bee lands on the lower lip of the flower it springs up, enclosing the insect which can only escape by crawling backwards. In doing this, it passes first the stigma which it pollinates (if it's carrying pollen) & then the stamens
- picking up pollen for another cymbidium. Of course this only applies with natural, organic versions of the plant
- Bloom cymbidiums are pollen-free. Which is good news for allergy sufferers if rather frustrating for insects. Nevertheless don't be surprised if your cymbidium centrepiece attracts the odd bee or two
- especially if you add a little of our orchid or flower shop scent. That's the thing about our silk flowers
- they're so realistic they even fool the 'experts'.

Artificial Chrysanthemum Gift Set, White

It's no secret that red roses mean true love. But in floriology - that's the language of flowers - there are many meanings that are secret but can now be revealed word by word, flower by flower. Chrysanthemums, for instance, indicate Truth and Friendship. The reason? Well in Japanese legend the orderly, progressive way the petals unfurl symbolises the way truth - initially hidden - is slowly revealed. And in the Shogun chivalric code, truth and loyalty were absolute essentials for friendship. The Victorians - who loved secret messages - liked this symbolism, and incorporated it into their own version of floriology. Today, chrysanthemums make a lovely and thoughtful gift for true friends and just in case the recipient isn't fluent in the secret language of flowers, an explanatory
card will be enclosed with the arrangement. After all, some secrets are worth sharing.
