Rose Blake is an illustrative artist with a contemporary flare: combining fine art with digital media, Blake creates an aesthetic unlike any other. Her work is perfectly attuned to colour & compositional technique, achieving an illusion of naivety through exceptional talent & uncompromising skill. ‘ Wall Art II’ is made up of twelve, uniform squares, each containing a tiny illustration in blue ink. Beautifully blending the figurative with the abstract, Blake’s print is all about simplicity & harmony: the child-like sensitivity to detail, the way the squares subtly speak to one another, the occasional accents in marine turquoise. With its self referential title, ‘ Wall Art II’ is a brilliant articulation of contemporary aesthetics. "I basically spent a week at The Curwen Studio experimenting with ways of mark making within lithography, & we made the three editions in the process. I didn’t want to be too precious about what I made in the week, as I really wanted to test the process, so I set myself this grid of frames to work in, & then just starting playing with abstract shapes & textures within them. It was SO much fun for me to work with Curwen, as I was completely new to the process. I really want to keep working with lithography in the future." Rose Blake
