Contemporary artist Carne Griffiths creates prints of stunning beauty, from his abstract-meets-figurative vision. With an impressive roll-call of clients
- from Chanel to the Sultan of Oman
- Griffiths’ work is informed by his background as a gold wire embroidery designer: delicate lines of fluidity course through his work, which he creates from various (and sometimes surprising) materials, including ink, graphite, brandy & whiskey. ‘ Aeolian’ uses an array of dynamic lines, shapes & colours to create the face of a woman in profile. As her hair flutters around her face, the image recalls the Aeolian harp of ancient Greek descent, its musical strings played solely by the wind. Crafted from an explosive palette of earthy brown, bold blues, & soft highlights of golden-yellow, the print is full of careful detail, each line brimming with a life of its own: a striking example of the abstract shading into the figurative.
